Exercise is good for everyone, especially for people with kidney disease. If you are on dialysis, you can safely exercise. In fact, exercise can benefit your health in five ways.

  1. Improve muscle strength and endurance
  2. Improve sleep
  3. Decrease cholesterol levels
  4. Control blood pressure
  5. Increase energy level

The Midwest Kidney Network Consumer Committee asked kidney disease patients to talk about their experiences with exercise. Most people felt that exercise was very important. More than half said they exercised regularly and saw improved energy and strength. Before starting any exercise program, be sure to speak with your doctor.
