Shared Decision Making

Hands joined together

It is important to take an active role in your dialysis or kidney transplant care.

Not always easy. It is not always simple to make choices about your tests and treatments. Some of the decisions will be challenging. You might not even want or need some of the tests, treatments, or procedures you may be offered.

A better way. Shared decision making is a way that allows you as a patient and your providers to work together to make effective health care decisions. Together, you can take into account the best scientific evidence available, as well as your values and preferences.
